7 steps to sustainable weight loss

food cannot be your best friend, and your worst enemy 60 minutes later - change your mindset change your life

If you have put on a few pounds in lock down or you are a long term yo-yo “dieter” - sustainable weight loss can only be achieved by looking at your lifestyle as a whole and dealing with your emotional issues hand in hand with physical ones.

We have been brainwashed over the years to elevate food into a mystical all purpose problem solving almost entity, we have attached an emotional status towards foods that “make us feel better” whilst attaching and labeling physical exercise as a chore. Most of this is clever marketing which has been ingrained over the years, and as adults a lot of us are natural feeders - we see feeding others as nurturing, which would harp back to a time when foods were not so readily available putting on a spread for loved ones was a sign of love & friendship. We stress ourselves at Christmas filling our houses with a mountain of food for a few days..

For those with long term weight issues who have yo-yo dieted for years - the stress both emotional & physical on the body can take time and understanding to repair - people can find themselves on a hamster wheel of overeating, guilt emotions, self loathing and self destructive behavior both mentally & physically - it becomes a pattern, a habit sadly sometimes with extreme consequences.

Before you rush into another “diet” - stop and take a serious look at your life, examine honestly why you have weight issues, for some it is just a simple reset of changing a bad habit for instance for me, just simply changing the habit of drinking too much alcohol during lockdown, but for others there are longer term ingrained emotional issues which need a complete reset - If you are of a mindset of not loving yourself enough to look after your body & mind - then your first focus should be resolving those issues & promoting self love otherwise you will just sabotage yourself at every corner.
