Pilates is not just an exercise class

The one thing I have to be grateful for during the covid years is giving me the opportunity to qualify as a Pilates instructor, I have practiced Pilates & Yoga as part of my own training for a few years, but qualifying as an instructor enhances my own practice as I am constantly exploring new ideas for teaching.

As with everything I instruct, I tend to put my own stamp on it, my Pilates classes are not about instructing a series of exercises, I endeavor to teach my clients about their own bodies and how to repair, balance, and re-energize from the wear and tear of modern lifestyles. We have the power through movement to aline and correct postural issues, create spaces in areas of compression, and rid our bodies of tension pain.

A new introduction of the Pilates wheels, for instance, gives a greater understanding of balance and the power of movement through our center - also obviously a challenge to completely relax our bodies whilst balancing on a circular roller :-).

Pilates for me is not your standard class of repetitive core exercises - my classes are an exploitation of the body, and how it wants to move, where it needs rebalancing, and where we need to create space - our bodies are the most amazing priceless possessions we will ever own - and whilst we are all living longer, it’s not necessary to live in pain or with limited movement, we can do so much to heal.

Pilates is ideal to achieve total balance as well as enhance the overall body’s flexibility, stamina, strength, as well as body awareness; that is why it is essential to do Pilates.

Benefits of Pilates include:

.    Improved flexibility and muscle strength

•    Balanced muscular strength

•    Enhanced muscular control

•    Improved stabilization of your spine

•    Improved physical coordination

•    Proper rehabilitation of joint and spinal injuries
