4 Ways To Continue Your January Motivation
So we are halfway through - how are you planning on motivating yourself for the rest of the year? Check out my top tips on how to continue your January motivation!
1. Find your inspiration
This is a very personal thing that's unique to everyone but for me, it’s listening to motivational speakers. If I'm struggling to motivate myself to get out for a run, plugging in the headphones and listening to some solid tough love motivation, will always get me out the door. Find what works for you, perhaps it's reading a blog/book written by someone who inspires you, checking out some motivational quotes, or refreshing your goals.
2. Add some variety
You may be absolutely killing your gym/run/walk sessions 4 times a week now which is fantastic! After all, if it ain’t broke, don't fix it. But what happens when you start losing motivation or skipping sessions? If you find yourself becoming bored or losing enthusiasm with your routine, try adding some new classes or workouts, running wise mix it up with a track, tempo, speed, & long slow runs to keep you interested.
3. Pick your people
Surround yourself with positive people who support and understand your goals. The friend or partner who's happy to have a sober night out will look after your children so you can squeeze in a workout, or will be your workout buddy - if it’s someone who shares the same goals you are on to a winner - you will keep one another going!
4. Constantly set yourself new goals
You may have set some goals in January to lose a bit of weight, attend 3 classes a week or ensure you get more sleep. Even better you may be well on your way to achieving them! What's really important is that you keep setting yourself new, realistic goals that keep you motivated and ensure you don't become complacent. A great goal is to focus on attendance and habit formation, once you crack this you'll find all your other goals seem a lot more achievable! Don’t be afraid to go big, you always need to set a clear date in the diary, it’s only when you commit to a date in the diary, that you will really knuckle down and do the work - no wishy-washy goals - success starts with commitment, commitment ensures consistency, consistency brings success - its a positive merry go round, time to jump on board!
